Bioenergy Australia Webinar Series

Supported by IEA Bioenergy - Energy from biogas (Task 37)

Surrey Biofuel Facility, Canada

Biogas upgrading is a proven technology to produce biomethane, also known as renewable natural gas (RNG). Although a relatively new concept to Australia, integrating biomethane into transport and the existing natural gas grid forms part of a number of international countries strategies to decarbonise.

The webinar will be focused on the Canadian experience.  Scott Gramm will discuss how FortisBC, the primary gas utility in British Columbia, sees RNG as a way of lowering carbon emissions by making use of its existing gas network. Amir Ghasdi will speak on Xebec’s biogas upgrading technologies and their partnership model aimed at accelerating the development of projects generating low carbon renewable gas. Bernadette McCabe will finally provide an overview of the opportunities in Australia.

Join the webinar to learn about the history of, and lessons learned in, the biogas/renewable natural gas (RNG) industry in Canada and to hear about future perspectives for Australia.

Everyone is welcome to join the webinar, in particular project developers, gas utilities, regulators, policy makers, financers and academics interested in RNG.
