Renewable Gas Alliance

Purpose of the Alliance 
The purpose of the Renewable Gas Alliance is to assist in driving a higher level of understanding, uptake and engagement relating to the renewable gas opportunities in Australia. Whilst we acknowledge there are other forms of renewable gas, the focus of this Alliance will be biomethane.

Objectives of the Renewable Gas Alliance
Within the definition of renewable gas: 

  1. Assist in the development of an advocacy strategy relating to renewable gas production and deployment in Australia
  2. Provide advice on the opportunities and challenges for the renewable gas sector in Australia
  3. Drive forward opportunities to inject biomethane directly into the gas network
  4. Drive investment in the renewable gas sector to improve commerciality 
  5. Support development of specifications, standards, regulation, certification and market for the renewable gas sector
  6. Contribute to the preparation of submissions to government
  7. Advise on opportunities and focus areas for events, programs, campaigns and suggestions on topics for the conference.
  8. Engage with the membership in knowledge-sharing and advise on topics for seminars, meetings, workshops, webinars, website information etc.
  9. Engage with other jurisdictions on best practice in the renewable gas sector
  10. Work closely with the Australian Hydrogen Council and Energy Networks Australia as required

Meetings 

  • To facilitate its work the Alliance is to hold face-to-face or teleconference meetings at least 4 times during the year. 
  • Members must attend at least three meetings a year to remain on the Alliance but ideally commit to all meetings. 
  • Meeting agendas are to be set by the Chair in consultation with the Alliance members. 
  • The minutes of a teleconferences and face-to-face meetings should contain only decisions, recommendations and actions.
