IEA Commentary: Are aviation biofuels ready for take off?

The International Energy Agency’s Sustainable Development Scenario anticipates aviation biofuels reaching around 10% of aviation fuel demand by 2030, and close to 20% by 2040. Cost premiums for biofuels over fossil fuels could be negligible on some flights.

Energy from waste and a circular economy

Food scraps sent to the waste-to-energy plant at Wollert, in Melbourne's north, feed a hungry beast. The plant owned and run by Yarra Valley Water can process up to 33,000 tonnes of food waste every year, enough to power about 2,000 homes.

Trial revs up on Australian-first 100% renewable diesel

An Australian-first trial using 100% renewable diesel to fuel a Scania test engine is up and running thanks to the Palaszczuk Government’s Advance Queensland Industry Attraction Fund. Southern Oil’s Pilot Plant is pioneering the refining of renewable diesel fuel.
