Queensland Renewable Fuels Summit wraps up at UniSC Moreton Bay

On 14 October, over 150 industry leaders, government representatives, researchers and project developers gathered at UniSC Moreton Bay for the Queensland Summit: Scaling Regional Bioenergy for Energy Security and Resilience. The day focused on how Queensland can move from ambition to delivery in renewable fuels.

The Summit was held during a week-long visit to Queensland by the IEA Bioenergy delegation, and IEA Bioenergy joined us as Event Partner.

What we covered

Five sessions looked at the opportunities and challenges facing the sector:

  • Queensland’s Renewable Fuels Opportunity: From Ambition to Delivery. Setting the scene for where Queensland stands and what the next phase looks like.
  • What Will Unlock Investment in Queensland? The policy, market and risk settings that will bring projects to final investment decision.
  • The Three Hubs Model: Regional opportunities and advantages. How Queensland’s regions can each play to their strengths.
  • How Does Queensland Build Sustainable Feedstock Supply Chains? Securing reliable, sustainable feedstock at scale.
  • Building Queensland’s Renewable Fuels Infrastructure Backbone. The infrastructure needed to connect production to end users.

The conversation continued the following day with the IEA Bioenergy workshop, Scaling Asia-Pacific Bioeconomies, followed by a field visit for the delegation to Wildfire Energy on the Friday.

Thank you to our Principal Sponsor, Sky Renewables, and our Session Sponsors, IEA Bioenergy and GreenPower, for their support of the event. We also thank our facilitators, our speakers, and everyone who attended and contributed to the conversation, and the team at UniSC Moreton Bay for hosting us.
