APA Group launches expression of interest for the potential supply of biomethane

Published Mon 25 Mar 2024

APA Group has today launched an expression of interest (EOI) to biomethane suppliers as its Pathfinder Program continues to look to future opportunities for future fuels to support ongoing operational decarbonisation.

The biomethane EOI process will gather information on potential biomethane supply chains, including suppliers, production projects and volumes.

APA Group General Manager Future Energy, Caroline Beattie said the EOI would allow APA to understand potential pathways to the establishment of domestic biomethane supply chains that can support the decarbonisation of APA’s operations.

“The biomethane industry is only in its infancy in Australia, so this process will help APA consider potential opportunities to partner with organisations in industries such as waste management, wastewater and agriculture,” she said.

“The EOI process and ongoing engagement with potential partners will allow us to better understand possible supply chains and potential application in areas like the decarbonisation of compressor stations across our gas transmission network.

“APA’s strategy is to be the partner of choice in delivering infrastructure solutions for Australia’s energy transition and we will also use these insights as we continue to engage customers to support energy transition.”

Following the expression of interest process, APA will consider whether it will pre-qualify a list of potential suppliers for further engagement.
