Through the Institute for Future Environments and the Centre for Tropical Crops and Biocommodities, QUT has a major research focus on bioenergy, biorefining and the production of high value bioproducts. QUT has core skills in bioprocessing, industrial biotechnology, process engineering, enzyme engineering, fermentation, bioseparations technologies, systems analysis and technoeconomic assessment of biobased product applications.
QUT owns and operates the Mackay Renewable Biocommodities Pilot – a unique publicly available facility for demonstration of biorefinery processes at the pilot scale.
