The inaugural Renewable Gas Meets Parliament on 7 September 2022 is set to accelerate deployment of Renewable Gas in Australia to support immediate decarbonisation of Australia’s gas network and manufacturing industry.

This event is an initiative of the Renewable Gas Alliance (RGA) supported by Energy Networks AustraliaGas Energy AustraliaAustralian Pipelines & Gas Association (APGA) and Gas Appliance Manufacturers Association of Australia (GAMAA). RGA members include gas pipeline owners, gas retailers, project developers, technology providers, off takers, research organizations, and state and local government representatives.

The Australian Bioenergy Roadmap, released by the Australian Government in 2021, identified that 23% of Australia’s total pipeline gas market could be supplied by biomethane by 2030.  To achieve this our members are actively investing in project development, guidelines, advocacy, and education. In addition, the commencement of construction of the first Australian biomethane-to-gas network project by Jemena at Sydney Water’s Malabar Wastewater Treatment plant took place in July.
